You do not need to pre-clean
Let us get this out of the way: you are paying for cleaning, so you do not need to clean before we arrive. Nobody expects a spotless house. But a little prep helps the crew spend their time on actual cleaning instead of moving your stuff around.
Pick up clutter
The single most useful thing you can do is pick up. Put clothes in hampers, toys in bins, dishes in the sink or dishwasher, and papers in a pile. Cleaners clean surfaces — they cannot dust a shelf full of knickknacks or wipe a counter buried in mail. Ten minutes of decluttering can easily add up to a noticeably better clean.
Clear the floors
Pick up shoes, bags, and anything sitting on floors so the crew can vacuum and mop wall to wall. If you have area rugs you want cleaned under, roll up the corners or move small ones aside.
Secure valuables and pets
Put jewelry, cash, and small valuables somewhere safe — not because of trust, but because it removes worry for everyone. For pets: friendly dogs are fine, but nervous or territorial pets do better in a separate room or at a friend's for the visit. Tell the crew about any pet quirks when they arrive.
Point out priorities and problem spots
When the crew arrives, mention anything specific: the shower grout that bugs you, the stove that needs extra love, the room the kids trashed. A two-minute walkthrough at the start means the crew focuses where it matters to you.
Handle access
Decide how the crew gets in: be home, leave a key, use a lockbox, or share a garage code. For recurring visits, a lockbox or code is the simplest — you never have to rush home or wait around.
What about supplies?
We bring our own cleaning supplies and equipment. If you prefer specific products — say, for allergies or for stone counters — leave them out with a note and we will use yours for those areas.
